In the distant year 1973 the late painter Giorgio Rocchi painted a scenographic painting that was very suggestive both for the compositional quality and for the large dimensions. It is a chromatic symphony that should enter the history of Italian art in the late twentieth century. The skilful play of perspective of the field of sunflowers appears immersed in a sumptuous sunset, which sets a distant cottage on fire among the trees. In the spectacular realism of this landscape completely devoid of human presences it is plausible to find the melancholy of a metaphysical suspension.
