Roberto Miniati was born in Rome in 1952 to a family of Florentine origins. He enrolled in the faculty of Psychology and attended various private academies. Since he was a boy he never stopped loving, studying and experiencing visual art. Over time he increasingly refined his artistic knowledge by coming into contact with gallery owners from all over Italy and a passionate collector. At the same time he undertook his personal pictorial activity in which, although making explicit reference to the historical avant-gardes of Twentieth century, to thegeometric abstractionism, to theAmerican Expressionism and to post-World War II artists, he constantly seeks an individual dimension. In his artistic practice they stand out color, gesture and sign. His is a painting that is not thought through, but mediated internally with a constantly evolving inner search. He alternates periods of study and cultural reflection with periods in which his pictorial production intensifies. In 1992 he began a significant exhibition activity in numerous Italian galleries. In 2015 he participated with one of his installations in the 56th International Art Exhibition Venice Biennale. In 2017 he received a special mention at Rome Triennial and for the second consecutive time he participates with one of his works in the 57th edition of the Venice Biennale. He lives and works in Rome.
