Born in Mantua in 1912, he attended the art school and then the school of artistic nude in Venice. After moving to Rome, he attended the Osteria Fratelli Menghi, a well-known meeting point for directors, painters and writers. He participates in the Resistance and for a period he goes to Paris. When style difficulties emerge, it detaches itself to be part of the Group of eight, together with the best known exponents of theinformal abstract art (Afro, Birolli, Corpora, Santomaso, Morlotti, Emilio Vedova, Mattia Moreni). He uses sand and foam rubber, adopts monochrome, giving his abstract art an original dimension.
